Oh well, like I always say, nobody lives forever!

There is a trend toward recognizing artists for their work in plotting. I think this is the first time we’ve seen Ayers get a plotting credit.

The Howlers are in the Bavarian Alps, infiltrating a Nazi stronghold known as the Fortress of Fear to stop a new superweapon called the Thunderer.

Manelli is about to undergo surgery. Too bad, as there is a host of women to charm, and he was the best at it. Can Eric compare?

Colonel Klaue runs the facility. He has a gloved hand which seems very strong. He frequently uses it to smash things for metaphorical emphasis. This is Klaue’s first appearance, but won’t be his last. He will become an irregular thorn in the Commandos’ side.

We also meet one old foe. Siegfried from the old Blitzkrieg Squad. He seems to be here without his old comrades. We’d made I think heroic effort in sorting out who was who amongst the Blitzers. Siegfried we were confident was Dugan’s counterpart, the brawler with the Bavarian cap. I guess that’s why we see him in Bavaria.

Turns out Colonel Klaue has a steel hand. Why Fury is really feeling those punches.

Project Thunderer turns out to be something called a “jet”. A plane with some fancy kind of propulsion that can fly real fast.

The Howlers blow the fortress and escape in the stolen Thunderer. Klaue survives the explosion.

They get in a fight with Luftwaffe bombers on the way, but make it almost safely home to Britain. Though the fancy Nazi jet has all but fallen apart as they arrive.

Typical Nazi weapons engineering. Likes those weapons from Schindler. Always failing.

Let’s check out the latest bulletin. Not much here we haven’t already noted from the credits to the comics. Severin is now the regular on Dr. Strange. Kane is now the regular on the Hulk. Thomas is scripting at least four titles each month. A new Ghost Rider series. And the cast of the FF has become quite the ensemble, with Silver Surfer, Black Panther, Wyatt Wingfoot, and the Inhumans all seeming like regular fixtures.
