Let’s remind ourselves of the dramatic final page of the previous issue.

This story picks up where that left off. Lady Pamela Hawley died in a bombing raid before Nick could propose to her. Now we see him trying to deal with his pain and frustration. Will revenge bring him catharsis?

After Nick is working the Howlers too hard, Captain Sawyer orders a furlough. They decide to take their “furlough” in occupied Holland and track down the Squadron behind Pam’s death.

In Holland, we get a nice character return. Mayor Rooten, the father of Howler Mascot Hans Rooten. His son thinks him a traitor, but the Howlers know he is secretly Agent X.

We haven’t seen Hans since issue 16, but he’s presumably still hanging around the camp training to one day be a hero like the Howlers.

When Fury finally sneaks his way into Von Krummpts residence, he finds the General sound asleep.

The General’s hair is distinctively blonde in the reprint, but was silver in the original.

He takes the General far away to confirm this is the man he’s looking for. The General had a hidden gun and wounded Fury in both arm and leg.

They end up battling aboard a small plane, and ultimately Von Krummpt falls to his death.

There’s Hans. It would be weird to see his father but not him.

The issue ends with Nick at Pam’s grave, letting her know she’s been avenged.

Will it help?
