This is the third Loki-centric story. Not really sure why this is a significant chapter in his life. I guess it’s an early example of him being evil. They seem to make a big deal that this is his first time forming an evil alliance.
The ally in question is Ghan the Storm Giant.
Loki attempts to help Ghan defeat Thor, but is only able to help Ghan escape. Ghan is now in his debt.
I feel like I should add some commentary besides just a summary, but I’m at a loss.
Rating: ★★½, 48/100
Significance: ★★★☆☆
I read this story in Marvel Masterworks: The Mighty Thor vol. 3. It is also available on Kindle.
Characters:
- Thor
- Loki
- Ghan
Story notes:
- Thor leads force in defense of Asgard against Ghan the Storm Giant.
- Loki casts spell to aid Ghan, transforming him into an Eagle before Thor can fell him.

Panel 3, page 5 caused 11-years old Chet to comment “Gross! Giant armpit oder!” GAO was a great gross-out code for my cousins and me the rest of that year.
Well, that’s more commentary than I was able to provide at least.
